about us
who we ARE
here a few things about us

STUDIO mhr Architects is the product of a couple of likeminded architects all passionate about creating architecture that enriches people’s lives.

The practice was established in 2010 as a platform where we would have the freedom to make this passion a reality. We enjoy the dynamic relationships & interactions that are formed between the various disciplines & people involved in making a project a reality & believe that our future success is determined by the relationships we establish.

Our primary goal is to establish ourselves as a reputable, innovative architectural firm that offers prospective clients an alternative to the larger commercial firms. Our aim is to remain small enough to ensure excellent quality projects, but still highly skilled to ensure the successful completion of large-scale developments. Our long-term goal is to constantly form new sustainable relationships with new clients & to establish ourselves as a leading, innovative architectural practice in South Africa.

The practice’s design ethos, although instinctive, is derived from an analysis & is a response to a specific sense of place including an understanding of the climatic orientation, geography & the client’s specific requirements. We believe that the architect’s responsibility towards society, the environment and their clients are of paramount importance. We thus value the feedback which our clients & the users of our buildings give us.

ME
RYAN PATRICK PETTEY
PROFESSIONAL ARCHITECT
MArch (Prof) cum Laude - University of Pretoria
BSc (Arch) - University of Pretoria

After completing a thesis in sustainable architecture I graduated cum Laude from the University of Pretoria with a Master of Architecture in 2004.

Since qualifying I have had a career at Dimension Studio Architects where I worked as a Technical and Project Management Architect for two years before joining Boogertman + Partners Architects as a Design Architect. During my career at Boogertman + Partners, Konya Pavilion was recognized by the PIA and was awarded an Honorable Mention for Architecture [2009].

I have always believed that the smallest part conveys the truth of the whole and that quality doesn't happen by accident, its achieved through the relentless focus to detail.

Inspired by South Africa's stunning landscapes and divers context, every design is a blend of aesthetic beauty and practical functionality. From the first concept to the final result, careful attention is given to refine every aspect, resulting in a project which will not only meet expectations but will leave a lasting impression.
